Oil and Gas Online Marketing – Digg Energy

I am keenly watching and participating in the Oil and Gas Industry’s participation in social media.

Keep track of examples on my specific O&G / social media site called Digg Energy. I posted a brilliant video by Suncor highlighting a dinosaur find and escavation that brands Suncor very well. It is likely one of the best examples I have come across yet.

Oh Calgary’s Third Tuesday social media meetup crew…. Usually never on the Third Tuesday of the month! This is one of the best organized and highest quality meetups in the social media space. Third Tuesday chapters are established across Canada and attrack accomplished authors and online authrories. And the crew that attends these events is always a friendly, and very large group. Don’t miss these – they do fill up so join them on Meetup and RSVP early.

Social Media for Oil and Gas Companies
Quickinars June 6, 2011
Dare we say Oil and Gas and social media in the same sentence? There IS a place for Oil and Gas service companies and operators online, and it is not going away. More and more customers are seeking technical performance and product info online, so you might as well figure out how to promote drill bits and rigs on Facebook and Twitter, it can be done.
And I have started to keep track of O & G efforts line, check out this blog: https://diggenergy.wordpress.com/

The  MRU Shift Conferenceis being organized by some of Calgary’s top online marketing influencers, and by nature of their work is going to shape up to likely be the best social media conference yet to hit Calgary. Be there, or be square.

And last but not least on is another Quickinars workshop, this one focused on not-for-profits. Oil and Gas and Social Media?

Oil and Gas and Social Media?

Is the Oil and Gas Industry falling behind in many WOM (Word of Mouth) marketing opportunities and networking opportunities?

How can the Oil and Gas Industry use Social Media to connect with customers and increase sales?

How about posting product and service successes to your Tweeps (aka. Followers)? Your ‘tweeps’ would see the success immediately, rather than hear about it two weeks down the road when the sales rep takes them out for lunch.

Even if the sales rep did tell the customer about it over lunch, are you confident that they know the details and can articulate the value to this customer? Getting a weblink with a one page brochure on the success into your customer’s hands would be smarter, and it would be a measurable marketing task because you can then see who clicks through to your website to learn more.

And don’t fret about saying “Tweeps” in your next Business Development meeting. You have to say it, so expect some laughs from the uninformed, but don’t let that stop your business from capitalizing on a marketing opportunity.

If successes can be broadcast online in a timely manner why wouldn’t you want to do that?

Who’s online?

Oil and Gas business to business customers are online, and more are coming online. There are over 3200 individuals in the Twellow Pages under the Oil and Gas Industry and there are 701 individuals on LinkedIn that below to the “Oil and Gas Calgary” group, and that is growing everyday.

Oil and Gas Industry – use social media, I know it will pay off.
